After many controversies, the current direction is to first enact a special law and then promote it after the law is passed and a consensus is reached in the society. This presentation will introduce the results of the previous analysis of the test cards. We will start with the Smart Card standard and analysis methods, then introduce the chip passport and related security protocols, and then share our methodology and suggestions for analysis. Although the same technology may not be used for future digital ID cards in China, the analysis methods and experience can still be used as a reference for subsequent design.
